I knew it wasn’t good when I opened the door INSIDE the addition and found this on Tuesday morning.
We’d had some wind but I’d no idea it would blow into the addition like it did. Fortunately, I had placed the netting in a good spot and it wasn’t covered in snow. I have to bring it in for repairs on Thursday when my helper friend is here.
Those big windows in the bedroom really let the snow in.

My poor outside tree! I’d never seen it do that after a storm. The guy wires were holding it up.
After my helper friend left and I’d been to an appointment, my husband and I set out to see what we could do about the poor outside tree.
The weight of the snow from the 2nd storm (we got about 16” on top of the 10” we already had) had snapped the metal pole on the top section. We finally ended up using another 20d nail with the head cut off to fix it. That was after I’d dropped the first one in the 26” of snow….
My husband thinks highly of the sturdy fishing rods he builds. He’d originally brought out pieces of rod he thought would fit in the pole. They did, and were promptly snapped off, even without the snow. Seems they can take a lot of use hauling up a fish, but not holding a tree top on.
We put up a 4th guy wire, tied to the corner post of the New Herb garden. Hopefully the tree will survive the rest of the Christmas season.
Due to the excellent insulation and construction of the other 2 sections of the house, we’d never had icicles. I tried to catch the drips, but only managed the ones on the window frame. These are only on the west side of the porch.

We need to shovel out the addition and clear around the outside perimeter of the addition so he can get windows put in. That’s after he finished the capping on the east side. Got those cabinets coming on December 13th….
But he took a day and went pollock fishing. We are nearly out of fish for the layers and he’s not been fishing since June or July. It’s how he keeps sane, being 30 miles off shore.
I know the snow is probably a big pain in the butt, however it makes for some great photos! 😃

You sure got a good dump of snow for the first of the season, @goldenoakfarm. So sorry about the tree your worked so hard on. I'm amazed your hubs would go ocean fishing in the weather. Very brave!
