So, the internet can be a mean place. And I've found out that Pure Living For Life has been served a big ol' steaming pile of it, over a comment about "playing homestead". I took the comment to be about the image of homesteading being something fun and pretty, when the reality of it is that things are hard and dirty, but others have seen it as being a "stuck up" comment about how they are better homesteaders than anyone else because they are building their own home.
But I feel that the point needs to be addressed, especially as homesteading is so trendy currently. If you advertise homesteading as a beautiful fantasy, then you are doing a disservice to the actual work of homesteading, and also to people unsuspectingly drawn into it.
So I'm chatting about the dark side of homesteading, while giving you a little bit of reality from around our house. Hope you like the poop pile!
