Bed preparation for lettuce transplanting (no-till)

Yesterday i and my wife planted a few beds with zucchini, beets and salanova lettuce. These beds were covered with heavy duty silage tarp for a few months. When we uncovered them, we found a few weeds here and there. We pulled them out while aerating soil with pitchfork.
A lot of work upfront, but now we will have much less weeds coming up because we did not tilled these beds and that way brought weed seeds from deeper layers of the soil.
Also, i'm very happy, because i found a lot of earthworms while aerating soil! :)
That means, that our hard work is paying off and our soil is healthy :)
