OUR FIRST LITTER OF PIGS

in homesteading •  7 years ago  (edited)

These 12 little piglets were born on August 26 2017. We have a few videos of them when they were just starting to get adventures and getting spunky. Hope you enjoy.

Nice post ,
Most Pigs raised on the farm will taste much better than the store and can be used to fertilize and turn soil.
Pigs are the second best food animal on a farm we think. Chickens has to number one. What's your opinion?
You should try breeding berkshire pigs if you get a chance.
If you dark, juicy, tender, and flavorful pork which is heavily marbled with fat. The Berkshire has a long history that goes back over 300 years in England, this black-and-white pig is highly regarded and known as Kurobuta pork in Japan, Berkshire is to pork what wagyu or angus is to beef. They also make good mothers and easy keepers.

Floppy my boar is half berkshire half yorkshire. His ladies are half yorkshire half hampshite. So the piglets have a little berk in them and a whole lot of shire...lol😂

I enjoyed your pictures! Here on our homestead, we have been thinking about getting a couple of pigs for a while now. I am hoping that this next year will be the year we get one.

Thank you @knowledge-seeker! Pigs can be a great addition to a homestead. I hope you get a couple.
