My mother and I have come up with a couple different recipes for mashed potatoes that we think are pretty great.
If you have an especially good mashed potato recipe that you are willing to share, please do. As for my husband's opinion of mashed potatoes, he will eat store-bought (gasp) mashed potatoes if they're put in front of them.
We use red potatoes and I don't peel them.
Real butter (margarine hasn't been allowed in our home for over 10 years, salt, heavy whipping cream (or whole milk if we don't have any hwc) and either 1/2 cup sour cream or cream cheese.
We use a mixer because we like them smooth and creamy.
