I was born and raised in middle Ohio. I moved away 5 years ago. Growing up I couldn't wait to move, I wanted so much to just get away and explore someplace new. But now as a marriage adult with a growing family of her own, I must admit that I still get homesick. I grew up out in the country. Next door to both a lovely Amish and Mennonite community. The whole farming community and small town feel is just hard to find nowadays. It saddens me that my parents have to FaceTime their grandchildren, because we accepted a job opportunity so far away. In order to brighten my day I enjoy looking at old pictures I use to take on my family's land. The photo above is an old rundown corn crib. You may see it as it is, an old rundown corn crib. But I see it as home. I see it as childhood memories. And I see it as beautifully broken.
i feel you, growing up miles away from my parents is not so easy, i easily get homesick , but we need to face life whatever it takes.

Have you ever seen the movie, Fried Green Tomatoes? I think you would enjoy it and could relate. I've lived in San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, and other less-known cities, but I love, love, love small old towns. Maybe they take me back to a less stressful world and I feel secure... don't know. But, I enjoyed your introduction. I would say "welcome", but I have yet to write my own introduction.

I guess I'll have to follow so that I can see your intro! I have not seen that movie, I know of it and I've seen bits and pieces, but haven't actually sat down to watch it. I might have to pick it up the next time I'm at the library!
