More cuttings from my neighbor – fig tree, lemon mint and hot pink blood-leaf!!
My lovely neighbor and I have bonded over our mutual love of gardening, I don’t see her a lot but last weekend I found some fig tree branches on my side of the fence – she’d tossed some over for me as she was trimming her fig trees that were a bit out of control :D … so kind!!!
I was pretty excited when I went out and found them – jumped on the internet to see the best way to plant them, turns out they are super easy to propagate, just stick them in the ground lol.
I decided to put them all in the same deep big pot until they’ve thrown roots, then ill put them in their own pots. Very excited to have fig trees!!
With me working a lot and not really doing much else [sleeping all weekend to make up for the week], even though my neighbor lives next door it can be weeks before we pass each other [sometimes we will spot each other a few days in a row, sometimes not see each other for weeks] so I thought I would write her a little note of thanks and pop it in her letterbox [as I didn’t want to wait till I next say her to say thanks] and so I wrote it at about midnight before I hopped into bed, and popped it in her letterbox when I left for work [5am]. Was worried it was a tad impersonal instead of going around myself, but time just didn’t permit, and I wanted to say thanks any way I could , and figured id catch up with her when I saw her.
That was last weekend, yesterday I was out the front taking the bins out and we ran into each other, and she was SO HAPPY with my note, just delighted 😊 she said she is having it framed, and shows it to everyone that visits her 😊 that is so nice!! Its amazing how little hand made/written things mean a lot to some people, and made me feel pretty great too, as I was going to apologize for being so impersonal with a note in the letterbox haha.
I asked her around to check on the figs that I was doing the right thing and gave her a cutting of some Pig-face I have growing along the fence, and then we went back to her backyard and she was cutting off bits and pieces and even pulled the mint right out of the ground for me! [she has a lot] but yay, rooted plant and strong plant so it should stay healthy!!
And the Blood-flower, omg. Such a beautiful plant, the stems caught my eye crawling up the fence, they were SO purple/pink, so she pulled off some decent cuttings for me, they have been started in water in a bucket with some of the smaller lemon mint cuttings, whereas the big mint plant was planted straight away into soil.
They are all sitting behind one of the cars at home to give it semi shade during the day, hopefully they all take hold soon and start throwing me some healthy roots!! 😊 Don't mind the terrible photos, they were taken quickly at night with a flash lol.
Yay!!!
Kenj xx
They are beautiful!...
Can’t wait to see how they grow.

I only wished I had a neighbour like yours, all of mine hate gardening and nature. All they do is mow their lawn 10 times per week but they don't take care of it. They don't have a clue when to water nor feed their lawn. Keep up the good relationship with your neighbour , having good neighbours is priceless.
