Well it’s Monday my friends which means another week has passed but very little has progressed in my scrap garden! The only visible difference is the appearance of two small sprouts!
The two trays of Calendula recently began showing signs of life! So far, two small sprouts have poked through the dirt! I am continuing to mist the trays with water and letting them sit beneath my desktop grow light for a few hours per day. Hopefully the trays of milkweed catches up soon… I planted them before the calendula but they have yet to show any growth.
Unfortunately, two of my avocados are also slowing down. The one that has grown the most is still hale and healthy as you can see below!
But the other two have stopped growing for some reason. One had intricate roots growing before I planted it in a pot of dirt but it has yet to sprout… and it’s been weeks. I’m worried something happened during the transplanting but we will have to wait and see.
The other has split and begun to show roots in the mason jar of water, but it stopped at approx. 1” and has not grown since.
But overall, I’m pretty happy with the way things are turning out and I’m even more excited that spring is slowly approaching! I have yet to plant the other trays of seeds including the Amaranth but hopefully I will get that done by next Monday!

SO encouraging to see new sprouts! I just looking in my garden and I have some rhubarb roots that are sprouting. We transplanted them from Wisconsin to the Ozarks. I really hope they'll flourish this spring. I'm getting ready to do some sprouting too. Good for you for getting started early! Have you found the desktop light actually works? I thought you need a full spectrum light.

So far it is working well, it is a grow light and it's "LED Color: 3 Red (650-660nm); 2 Blue (440-450nm)" according to the information page
