Raising pigs

in homesteading •  7 years ago

Pigs are great to raise and they it is always so much easier to walk them with food. Not so cute though when it is a 800 boar running behind you when you have food. We use high tensile electric fence for out hogs and pens made out of pallets. Either one has worked very well for use with only a few incidents. They never really go very far since they are so smart and know where their next meal is. I have never tried the netting with hogs though I would be interested in how well that is working for you.

The pigs were great. We didn't have to deal with a full size pig.

The netting worked pretty well for us. They are very smart and knew how to get out of it. But luckily, they only escaped if they really want something. Most of the time it was because they had eaten all the grass.

I'm going to be building a high tensile fence this year.
