How to Plant Mint In Pot At Home

Do you already know Mint plant? It's a plant of menthol producer or mint flavor common in candy and cough medicine.
Menthol is also often used in the mouthwash industry. While at home, mint can be used to provide flavorings to foods and beverages. Naturally still if you do not know mint because the plant is not derived from the original Indonesia. But because of its many uses, especially from this mint leaves then there is no harm if you try to plant mint in pots in your home.

There are several ways that can be used to plant mint in pots but the most widely used method is to plant mint by using stem cuttings. So you simply cut the mint stems and then planted on the planting medium that has been prepared. But by using this way of planting mint, of course you must have mint plant first. If you do not have one then you can buy it at the grocery store that is around your residence.

How to Plant Mint In Pot

  1. Plant Seed Preparation

Before planting mint in pots then need to do the preparation of plant seeds are as follows:

  • Choose mature grown but not too old rods.
  • Cut the stem of the mint rod about 1 cm from the top of the branch by using a clean sharp scissors / knife and have previously been wiped using a 70% alcohol solution.

  • Soak the mint rod in cold water.

There are 2 ways to plant mint in pot by using this stem cuttings that grow roots and shoots leaves in water first or directly in planting in pots. If you choose to grow root first in water then place the stalk in a glass / bottle that contains clean water and place it in the kitchen or window that receives indirect sunlight. About a week then you will see the appearance of white roots from the stem stem TSB. Wait a few more days until new shoots appear until the plants are ready to be planted in pots.

  1. Harvesting

Harvesting of mint leaves can be done after the plant enters the age of 6 months. Harvesting can be done by picking leaves that have been 2 weeks old.
