When we got our sheep, we needed somewhere for them to get out of the elements.
For starters, we wanted a shelter that would get them out of the sun or out of the rain when they need to. We will have to make it even better for the upcoming cold winter months, but here is what we put up quick to get them started.
With items like scrap metal and old pallets available nearby, I had most of the building materials already.
These may not exactly look like prime building materials, but we live up in the Ozarks, and rustic is a good look.
This was also an opportunity to teach the @little-peppers a bit about creating simple structures and using some power tools.
By attaching five pallets to form a large rectangle, the shelter will have an open front for the animals to enter and exit.
By adding a few longer boards across the top, I was able to stabilize the structure and also to provide some struts to screw the roof onto.
At this point the basic form was already created and we just needed to affix the metal for the roof.
The metal was cut at a sharp angle, but I found two sheets that could work well together to make a solid roof.
Interestingly enough, the screws that I used were also salvaged, so our investment in this shelter was nothing more than time.
After a little trimming of one end of the metal, the roof was perfect!
With just a little effort and some picking up of free resources, we were able to build this simple shelter for our sheep. It may not be the prettiest, but it gets them out of the rain and provides some shade for them. We will either make some better or add to this one to help provide a warmer place for them to get out of the cold wind this winter, but so far the sheep like it!
As always, I'm @papa-pepper and here's the proof:

Looks comfy, dry, and breezy, nice work! I bet they will love it.
Sheeps milk is VERY VERY beneficial to the body if that is one of the things you plan to do then I would most definetly say that you should make cheese, soap, and other things with it.
When I was living on our family farm in Mississippi we did the same things but with Goats, we used them for everything from Milk, to Soap, and even meat. They were easy enough to maintain and even would help keep the plants in check when we needed to trip up we would just tether the goats in the right place and let them go for it.
Not to mention grass clippings were a treat to them... Although I am not sure if sheep are the same but I would imagine they are similar.
I love you building your farm up, it makes me long to do the same thing as I really miss that type of lifestyle.
Love you brother, and good luck to you and your family.

I just saw someone who made a bed out of these :-) a gypsy bed she called it. And with all her folklore colors it did look like a gypsy bed too. When i saw you making a sheep shelter i thought it will just need some colorfull curtains :-)

I like the beauty appeal, then you spoil it with that bewhiskered bloke who likes to prove things.
With a bit of exercise, you can totally de-build the pallets, a good supply of 4 x 2s [ oops 2 x 4s for you] and narrow flats.
Sometimes they are plywood strips which makes them much stronger.
Our ones are not treated so watch out for ground contact if you want the building/item to last. A thick coat of paint helps to make them last longer.

Oh, this is neat! I KNOW that when I get to my farm, I'll be scraping every piece of scrap I can find to do this sort of thing. We have to build a house, so money will end up going into that black hole so I'll have to 'make do' for quite a while with the animals no doubt. But what a great way of using pallets! I'm totally going to try this out. Position it next to a decent hedge too, for some extra wind protection, and voila, cosy sheep shelter.

Aw, that's such a nice thing to do for your sheep! I always feel sorry for the Scottish sheep out on the mountains having to find shelter when it rains.
