WHY WE HOMESTEAD - Part 8 - JUST A LITTLE MORE FREEDOM

in homesteading •  7 years ago  (edited)

This is Part 8 of a new series.

Not everyone out there is going to think that working 40 plus hours a week, five or six days per week, for the next forty years is a good idea. It certainly does cramp any "freedom" you think that you may have. By being free from that lifestyle, we can exercise a lot more freedom on a daily, weekly, and yearly basis. Enjoy the video!

PART 8 - JUST A LITTLE MORE FREEDOM

For us, homesteading seems to be a great way to be just a little freer than we would otherwise be. In Part 9, I will share about how homesteading fits with our goals for our health. Stay tuned!

The best reason yet!

Thanks! I think that you'll like reason 10 too!

I agree working for someone else is not a good choice. I work more than 40 hours a week that I get paid for. But there is a lot a work off the clock I do. Why do I do work off the clock and not get paid for it. It's the same with most teachers. Lesson plans, Getting ideas to make learning fun for the children. And required insevice hours and CEU's to get in to stay qualified as a certified preschool teacher. We make sacrifices for the children and I feel it is a calling.
I am hoping I can earns some steemit money to help get my own little homestead retirement place. Maybe it will happen and maybe it won't. I don't know what God has planned for me.

I think that you are heading in the right direction! You're at least making something, and who knows how valuable STEEM could be in the future.

That is true

I want to have the freedom to have a chicken in my head whenever I want too.
but seriously, it's as you say, having that lifestyle you're not forced to lead a monotonous life. living like you, people can have more freedom

Hopefully soon you can at least put a chicken on your head, and then work towards a life where you are free to whenever you want to!

When you "work from home", homesteading you are free to come and go as you please within reason. If you need to do something you do it, or if you don't want to tackle something you can put it off for a bit. Like when my granddaughter wants me to read to her, then I take the time. The weeds in the garden can wait a bit...

Right, free to read to the granddaughter while the weeds patiently wait!

It's all about priorities @papa-pepper! My granddaughter won't be young forever, I'm old and the weeds can wait!

So good to hear somebody else living free because this is my and my husbands dream. That is why we chose to move to El Salvador and have our own paid little house, our own animals and fruit trees and veggies. We wanted to run away from this money chasing system and being a slave system. We lived there for 2 years but had to come back to Canada to finish some things. But as soon as we finish it, we are off to our freedom and healthy lifestyle and just enjoy our lives. So happy to see more people like yourself doing it. Love it. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Bro ! Another good one ! I like your videos man, you always say this is what I'm doing and why .. Spreading the word about what others CAN do instead of being a wage slave and actually have a meaningful life as man was/is intended to live. Thanks for showing people what valuing freedom and happiness is all about ! Keep up the "Good" work my friend.

Hugs all around !
Your friend JT Streetman

Thanks Man!

Great stuff @pap-pepper. It is great to hear and see how you live the life you want without all the unnecessary stress most people put themselves through. I think many people will be inspired by your posts and videos.

It sounds like they are getting inspired!

We gave up our city life just to be with nature. We too had chickens but our focus has always been on our fruit trees. We have loads of fruits that we make great use of. After giving away a few and also marketing if there is a demand we make wine and fruit juices. I wish many joined our band wagon. Life is so wonderful spent with nature.

I'm a big fan of fruit trees too! We were just planting some Mulberry Trees today.

I would love to be able to take off every now and then too. That cost of living and self-employment can be difficult to achieve though, but we keep trying.

@papa-pepper Really good post.

The more of these I watch the more I want to take steps to living toward a homesteading life. It’s an amazing lifestyle.

Thank you for sharing it with us. We all should have a chicken on our head at least once in our lives!

LOL! Yeah, life with a chicken on your head can be a lot of fun!

Your daughter is so cute and I love that you never let her throw you off, even when she put the chick on your head. :D You are a fabulous dad...your kids have a great time with you. :D

Your logic is sound, your reasoning is on course for developing one awesome homestead and your children (the future) will be heads above others in their understanding about what is important in life. Yes money buys things but what it does not buy is what your teaching them does.... Well done @papa-pepper!

Well said! Thanks for that!
