My journey started with the Ferry from Port Galala, a ticket worth 140 thousand already in hand. This time I was alone, unlike two months ago with the Wildfire and Paul Hilton. However, when the ship departs I have made new friends. Mbak Irene her name, a child of nature lovers on Buru Island. He mentioned a great location to enjoy a relaxing time while snorkeling. Waelihang and Waplau are in good locations for snorkeling.
After enjoying sleep and traveling for 8 hours, I arrived at Namlea Port. Because it looks still layman, many motorcycle taxi drivers who offer services. But I chose to sleep a little longer until dawn arrived. Because the new car was there when the dawn was dawning. I started down the stairs and immediately looked for the transport to Waplau. Where I'll stay for a week.
On Sunday morning I had the opportunity to visit the kettle or the eucalyptus leaf spot. When I headed to Waepure Village to meet one of the best friends there, Bang Firman. Riding a tuna fishing car, I headed to a village well known as a tuna producer.
Cartridge making eucalyptus oil
During the trip I saw many eucalyptus plants on the right and left side of the road. According to Mr. Irfan, residents indeed planted eucalyptus. And somehow, this plant can only be fertile on Buru Island. If grown in other areas, it is very difficult to grow. "Maybe the soil is different from other areas, but it can affect the weather," he explained.
In Waspait Village, we stopped to see the process of making eucalyptus oil in a small kettle. Pak Damra is the head of the boiler there. He greeted us cheerfully, but it was clear that the grains of sweat on his face. I also immediately smell the strong whiff of wood from the kettle.
Wood stove for burning
kettle is a house made of bambo without walls. Just dry coconut leaves. This place is the 'office' for four people here. Pak Damra as the boiler head is in charge of keeping the kettle waiting for the evaporation to become oil. Three others have the function of picking eucalyptus leaves and separating from the trunk. After that they collect the eucalyptus leaves in a container.
The collected eucalyptus leaves are then fed into the vaporization site. A kind of round wooden container. Once filled with eucalyptus leaves, the container is covered with a lid that has a hose to the container basin. But before the hose that contains eucalyptus oil past the wood pool to cool the oil. The whole process takes up to 6 hours. So in one day may be collected about 5 liters.
The flow of eucalyptus oil contained in jerry cans
When I already know the process of making white wood minya original, I was able to understand when one bottle of mineral is priced 150ribu. Every hard work they do to get a small jerry can break even with the price they give. I went home with eucalyptus oil in my hands as a fruit hand.
