In Waspait Village, we stopped to see the process of making eucalyptus oil in a small kettle. Pak Damra is the head of the boiler there. He greeted us cheerfully, but it was clear that the grains of sweat on his face. I also immediately smell the strong whiff of wood from the kettle.

Pak Damra as the boiler head is in charge of keeping the kettle waiting for the evaporation to become oil. Three others have the function of picking eucalyptus leaves and separating from the trunk. After that they collect the eucalyptus leaves in a container.

The collected eucalyptus leaves are then fed into the vaporization site. A kind of round wooden container. Once filled with eucalyptus leaves, the container is covered with a lid that has a hose to the container basin. But before the hose that contains eucalyptus oil past the wood pool to cool the oil. The whole process takes up to 6 hours. So in one day may be collected about 5 liters.
