Free range eggs the easy way.

in homesteading •  7 years ago

Technically speaking I don't own any chickens personally but I feed a bunch of next doors chickens that wander constantly through my garden and have been doing so for the last 10 months.

I have watched these chicks grow to maturity and now they are starting to lay. They have a lot of character and I enjoy having them around, not just for their egg laying but as part of my extended family.

For my kindness these chickens are now repaying me by laying eggs in various places around the garden. It appears they just require a small plant or bush big enough to make them feel protected and secure and there they lay a continuous supply of eggs almost too many to use!

I had given up eating store bought eggs some time ago as it is hard to find and trust the free range egg business but I am happy to eat these healthy real free range ones.

Wishing you a beautiful homesteading day!

Back to planting my hibiscus hedge ( I got given a mass of pruned branches this morning which are now going to make a hedge at the edge of the garden in just a few months I hope =)

Guess you love eggs like i do

I like these eggs, they are small and perfect in every way =)

Firstly, that is a beautiful chicken.

And secondly...how cool is this!?

Nature is cyclical. All these things want to free flow with us. Clearly, you're being shown your dance moves are reflecting as much.

Way to go, you!

haha thank you very much, you are right , I am feeling the natural flow of life all around here ;)

You are so welcome. May that kind of joyous rhythm continue for you to sashay to! ^_^

The owner of the chickens doesn't mind you eating the eggs that you find in your garden?

Well there are so many chickens and so many eggs - I think they are more interested in keeping their roast chickens than losing a few eggs. I feed them so well they probably think fattening up their birds is worth sharing a few eggs for too. I am such a softie they get all sorts of treats and look super healthy and well built lol
Plus they are safe with me as I don't eat meat =)
