We are starting a homestead #4. Long awaited update on the off-grid cabin.

in homesteading •  5 years ago  (edited)

So...., when we left you last we were just getting our cabin framed in. A lot has happened since then. It's been a couple years. This post will be about our little cabin. It's totally off-grid, using solar for power and water catchment for our water.
Here are some pictures from when we last posted.

It's been a long couple of years working on the homestead. Since the last post, we've finished the cabin(still a little to do on the inside) and improved the land around it. We've also put in a garden, terraced an outdoor sitting area, built an outdoor kitchen, and built a bathhouse (all to be shown in future posts).

This is the cabin now!

The cabin is the only stick frame building we'll be doing on the homestead, we did the cabin this way because it was faster and easier to do a couple days every weekend. We now live in the cabin and can work on everything else much easier. The bathhouse and all other building will be strawbale, cordwood, adobe, or other green building techniques.
I hope you've enjoyed our update on the homestead. More to come.
I plan on getting set up on Dtube, so we can show some video of what we've been doing out here.

Thanks, @scottyt
