Every Saturday here in my home town Heerenveen there is a market in the shopping district. Recently we started buying fruits and vegetables on the market because they are cheaper then the supermarket!!

There are all kinds of market stands, from clothing to vis and cheese, dont know if the Cheese from the market is cheaper then from the supermarket tough.

Oh, I really like visiting local market when I visit other countries. It looks nice. My hometown in Korea has local market like this. But we hold it every 4,9,14,19,24,29. There are very many people because the products are cheap. However, thesedays it becomes smaller and smaller due to super markets.

I would love to vistit Korea one day!!
Same here, its a lot cheaper at the market than in the stores!!
Have a nice day!!!

Really getting into veggies, eh? When you finally become a whale, I advise you buying a house in the countryside. You'll be able to grow anything you like outdoor, peppers or non-peppers :D

Buying at a local market is probably the best way to spend your shopping money (if you think of it as your voting power in "real life" - where you put your dollars is where you put your votes and if more people do it, it will keep improving!).
It is also the best way to support the resiliency of a local economy, as most of the time you are treating directly with local producers, building trust and closer human relationships with them and with your food sources! Your money spend will probably stay in the same place with them instead of flying away to the countries where the big superstore's capital is located.
Finally, it also implies less of a carbon footprint which is usually derived when buying avocados from Peru at a supermarket in Great Britain, for example. All the environmental externalities associated with that oil-based supply chain are usually badly misrepresented in the final price you are paying. Local means more eco-friendly. So in conclusion, YES PLEASE, BUY LOCAL!
