How to easily produce Vermicompost at home in five easy steps?

Vermicompost is a boon for plant growth and the environment. The best part is that one can use kitchen waste to create organic compost replete with minerals and microbes that plants love. Rich in natural phosphorus, nitrogen, potassium, they cause no damage to the surroundings.

The worm for the purpose is the red wiggler. In Asia, they prefer blue worms. The creatures live on waste and are way better than the ones who eat soil. Ironically, most people cannot identify them and prefer to buy from the garden or pet stores.

Requirements:

To create your vermicompost at home, you need a bin, a small lamp, some pesticide-free soil, and about a thousand worms ( weighing nearly half a pound). Also, you need to feed the worms with kitchen waste. And they eat half their weight each day!

Leftovers like bread, grains, fruits, vegetables, egg shells are great. Please avoid
coffee, lemon, and animal products.

Five-step procedure:

1. Drill a few holes all over the bin and on the top to let air pass.

2. Place a lamp or light on the top of the bin to keep it warm, and avoid direct sunlight.

3. Add the waste products and worms, and shift the apparatus to a cool, dark place.

4. Spray water to retain mild moisture.

5. Feed the worms with your rubbish daily.
