We are trying to become self sufficient on our off grid homestead and part of this is fishing for food. We try to grow, catch or kill our own meat and fish. And we have gardens and herb beds to provide our vegetable needs.
In the morning I dug some worms out of our compost bins. It fees very good to be able to save money on fishing bait by even having our own worms on the homestead.
We took the boat to the lake with a solar charged battery and electric motor. We spent the entire day fishing for food. This helps a lot by helping to fill the freezer.
When we got home we had showers using water that was heated by the sun.
We try to use as many natural resources that we can in order to reduce out dependency on the system.

@thediyworld I just watched your latest video. Why is the baby so rugged up in a parka inside the cabin? What was the temperature there? Leaving a phone to charge (via on grid electricity) within reach of the baby isn’t particularly smart or safe. Your dwellings and both the sheds are 100% on grid, evidenced by you having to use a generator because all of your batteries are dead.
