Harvesting Calamondrins...

in homesteading •  7 years ago

Calamondrins are plenty in the Philippines. It’s a good source of Vitamin C. These fruits can be extracted to be Calamondrin juice or used as dippings mixed with soy sauce and vinegar.

I wanted to share some of my Calamondrins shrubs and its fruits that are ready for harvesting.

If you go to the marketplace, you can see lots of these fruits and it is good for the entire planting year, unlike some that would only be seasonal.

These calamondrins can be alternative to lemons, oranges, and other citrus fruits.

They look so similar to limes and when I read you said they were alternatives to other citrus fruits I knew they had the tart taste that I find so refreshing during the hot summer months.

Thanks for sharing, I had never heard of calamondrins bfore

Thank you @goldendawne in the vernacular it is called calamansi. and these have lots of uses especially in some food recipes. Yes, these are citrussy and alternatives to lemons and limes. These can even be used in mojitos and margaritas.

Like @goldendawne, my first thought was similar to our limes. But I love the way they stand up straight on their stems. It makes me want to go to the store and buy some limes, lol.
