What is the difference between Pasteurized Honey and Raw Honey?

Raw Honey is honey that has been taken straight from the hive. The honey is put through a filtering process to remove any bits of honeycomb, dirt or bee parts. The honey is not treated in any other way and retains all of its nutritional benefits. Raw honey contains pollen nectar, which is the most nutritious and most beneficial part of the honey.

Raw Honey has a low moisture content and is highly acidic. Bacteria and other harmful organisms can not live or reproduce in honey, that is why many people do not pasteurize their honey.

Pasteurized Honey goes through a process to kill yeast cells, which exist in the pollen-nectar. The honey is flash heated to about 160 degrees Fahrenheit then cooled quickly. This process kills all yeast cells. Most honey purchased at a store has been pasteurized, though you can sometimes find raw honey at major retail chains.

To get the full benefits of honey, you should always try to find raw honey. Locally sources raw honey is the best since it contains the pollen-nectar from your local plants.

What are the health benefits of raw honey?

Raw honey has many many benefits. Raw honey can be used to treat many internal conditions as well as external injuries. Honey has natural antibacterial properties and is an antioxidant.

The following is a list of ways that raw honey can be used to benefit your health:

Pollen Allergies: Honey contains bee pollen, which is known to fight infections. When the bees go around the local area, they gather pollen from the local plant life. The pollen is then turned into honey and contains the local pollen. When you consume the honey, you are in essence getting a small dose of the local pollen. The consumption of the local pollen improves your immune system and you start building up an immunity to the local pollen that causes allergies. This process is known as immunotherapy. By consuming local honey over time, you will build a stronger immunity to the pollen that causes allergies.

Cough Syrup: Honey can be used as a natural cough syrup. It has been shown in studies to be as effective as the over the counter commercial cough syrups. Honey is known to reduce and break up mucus to reduce congestion. The recommended dosage is 1 to 2 teaspoons at bedtime.

Diabetes Aid: Studies have shown that consumption of raw honey can assist in reducing the risk of developing diabetes. Honey has also been shown to aid in the treatment with diabetic medication. Honey combined with cinnamon can improve your bodies ability to manage sugar. NOTE: You should always check with your doctor before trying any new treatment for diabetes.

Wound Care: Honey has been used for centuries as a natural healing aid for cuts, scrapes, and burns. The antibacterial properties of honey make it an excellent alternative option to store-bought products. In studies, it was also observed that honey combines with your natural bodily fluids to make natural hydrogen peroxide, preventing the growth of bacteria.

Ulcer Care: Like the treatment of wounds, honey is very effective in treating ulcers. Honey can help reduce the size, pain, and odor of skin ulcers.

Boost Energy: Honey is a natural energy source. It contains vitamins, minerals and small amounts of protein. It is easily absorbed by the body and can quickly be turned into fuel. Many people consume honey before and/or after exercise.

Weight Management: When you hear this, it doesn't make sense, but honey can be used to help you lose weight. Some studies have shown, that replacing regular sugar, with honey can prevent your body from adding extra pounds and helps in lowering blood sugar.

Brain Health: The antioxidants in raw honey can help prevent cellular damage in the brain. The antioxidant properties of honey have also been known to assist in the prevention of cognitive decline and dementia.

Acne and Skin Treatment: Raw honey's antibacterial properties can assist in the reduction of acne and skin issues. It can be used as a wash, by diluting it with water or put directly in the irritated spot.

Conclusion

Raw honey is one of the natures most powerful gifts. There are so many uses for raw honey to treat everyday conditions that we could go on forever. Just remember, when buying honey to use for natural treatment, get raw honey and try to find it locally sourced.

I have actually replaced the little bit of sugar I use in my coffee with honey, going on three months now, and have lost about 8 lbs without changing my routine. I have however cut back on meal portions a little so cannot give all the credit to honey. But psychologically, I feel good about it.

Congratulations on the weight loss! Thanks for your comment

Honey is a very miraculous product. The honeybee are programmed by the creator. It's very interesting that the honeycombs are 6 genes. Natural honey is the source of healing. If honey is not natural, it can harm human beings. Because honey can have in it sugar. Thank you it's a nice sharing.
