Out of the flower comes the fruit, as is the case with many fruits, if not all of them!

Here is my first papaya fruit that I thought I would share with you Steemians!

I find papaya pretty disgusting, but that's a lovely photo!

Haha! Some people do, I used to. For me, it's the smell. If you can get past the smell of a ripe papaya and focus on the flavor, wow it's great! Also it begins to grow mold as it ripens (that can be off-putting for sure!)

Yeah, it's definitely the smell for me! Maybe I'll buy some and put a peg on my nose...

Haha!

When I was living in California I asked myself how people could eat papayas that were shipped in form Hawaii, they really tasted bad but now that I live on Hawai'i Island I eat them every day! That first impression of a fruit made me think I didn't like papayas and I thought I'd never buy them again but now they are growing at the eco village I live at so I can eat huge ones for free!

That's awesome! Same thing for me. I ate a bad papaya in the U.S. and then lived in Venezuela for a while and ate them regularly and drank smoothies.

YES DUDE!

I also got a papaya tree and I did not know if it was going to give fruits or not. But the flowers are identical, I guess is just a matter of time :D

Where are you? Make sure you give it plenty of water during rainy season! (if it's not raining enough)

It really depends on the gender of the Papaya plant itself. Females produce average sized fruit where hermaphrodites produce the largest fruit. I don't know if males produce fruit but that's just a google search away...

Males don't produce fruit

Source: a gardener that came to my house

Right, the males send off like long shoots, it's easy to tell if it's a male. Didn't know that hemaphrodites produced bigger fruits, that's interesting!

What do you mean long shoots?

You know, like long stem-like things. Hard to explain lol

You mean the tree branch ? Or the little things that spawn the flowers?

It has! I am on Venezuela and it gets all the conditions it needs to grow: sunlight, lots of water and good soil

Mi primo! Épale! Qué fue mijo! jaja

Epale! Jajajaja

De qué parte de Venezuela eres?

Caracas! Y tu de donde eres ? :o

Yo soy de Illinois, EEUU pero mi esposa es de Maracaibo. :D
