Wild Rose

in homesteading •  7 years ago

On this homestead there are many beautiful, well established old rose bushes. Some I would wager are near 100 years old.

Gorgeous picture. We had some wild rose bushes in our yard when we lived in the Bronx. Our elderly neighbor said at one time there was a beautiful rose garden on the property. The house was built in 1896 so it’s quite possible that that sole remaining bush was quite old.

I love the old roses, I guess I would call them heritage roses. On my grandad's farm, there was a multitude of these amazing roses bushes, mostly red and pink. And the fragrance of these flowers! I can still smell them today.

wow 100 yrs old! ah! they were there, then, before you got there?

my grandmother had a rose garden at her house in pasadena... seeing that as a kid i fell in love with roses... now i got 13 (my magical number) on my homestead last year... not 100 years old, but so happy to have them here <3 do you know the varieties?

bakers dozen, that's always good. I do not know what the varieties are, I just know they are beautiful. My Grandma had tiny roses on an arbor over her front porch. It was heavenly to set under the canopy and be intoxicated by the aroma.
