How to Choose the Best Pot for Your Container Garden

in homesteading •  6 years ago

Lots of good info here. Thanks!

I just planted a Silver Lace vine in a large container. I am planning on having some lattice on my deck for it to grow up. I just wasn't sure if the vine would be too much. So I planted it in the container in case I wanted to easily relocate it.

  • I am wondering if I should do anything special to overwinter it?
It is hardy to zone 4 and I'm zone 5...

TIA if you have any ideas.

I have never grown Silver Lace - is it an annual? If so save the seeds, vines like morning glory have grown PROLIFICALLY for me from seed. I like the idea of the pot so you can move it where it best suits you!

It's a perennial vine that can get quite massive. I had one that grew about 20' all stretched out over a chainlink fence. I'm wondering if I should cut it back every year and put it in the root cellar. I'm concerned it may not be as hardy in a container? not really sure...
