Well today is my 49th birthday (or as the say on Game Of Thrones, my nameday.) All is quiet in the house. My better half has gone off to work.
My baby girl (chocolate lab is snoring in the other room) and I'm waiting for the sun to make its appearance so I can get outside and harvest some herbs to dehydrate.
This is my favorite time of day.
Listening to the birds chirping.
No beeps from a cell phone. Silence.
Silence is golden.
Feeling a little maudlin. Taking a visual walk down memory lane.
I remember when my youngest daughter got engaged. Her now husband proposed to her this way. She had texted me a picture of the special order Pop-Tart Box he had gotten online; keeping in mind she was a Pop-Tart fiend back then. Her ring was inside the box.
I also remembered when my oldest daughter graduated from college five years ago. It was a huge moment for all of us. Back in high school, her junior year, she had suffered a grade 4 concussion during a high school basketball game. She had been flight-cared (unconscious and after suffering from dozens of seizures) over 50 miles to the nearest trauma center and was in a drug induced coma for almost a week. She suffers from short term memory loss; so graduating from college was TREMENDOUS. We hired a tutor for her for her finals.

Oh, and I can't forget about my oldest. When he and his wife were expecting baby number 2. They had a special reveal at their first son's first birthday party to let everyone know at the same time what baby number two would be.
Here he is with both his boys
And here's my two stepsons as they get ready to go to a family wedding a couple of years ago.
Handsome boys, aren't they? You can really see the Italian in their genes.
And of course, I can't forget the man who makes every second of every single day happy for me.
I had forgotten all these pictures were still in my possession and as I sat here typing this and scrolling through the old pictures, my eyes became damp. I have had a fulfilling and wonderful life. My husband, my kids, the grandchildren and step-children.
God has given me more than I could have ever imagined to be grateful for.
