If you’ve ever wanted to shoehorn the Honda Civic Type R’s 2.0 litre VTEC Turbo engine into something else, good news ahead! The carmaker has announced, at this year’s SEMA Show, it will offer the power unit as a crate engine for purchase through Honda Performance Development’s (HPD) Honda Racing Line programme.
All you need to do to purchase the K20C1 306 hp/400 Nm engine is pony up US$6,519.87 (RM27597.63), as well as own a Racing Line membership. According to Honda, the sale of the Civic Type R crate engine builds upon Honda’s long-term commitment to the support of grassroots racing, so it’s strictly targeted at racing enthusiasts and professional racers (not for road use).
Aside from the crate engine, Honda also revealed several other SEMA exhibits, including race cars like the Civic Coupe Red Bull Global Rallycross, Pirelli World Challenge Civic Si and F3 Americas Series single-seater.
There’s also the Baja 1000 50th Anniversary Honda Ridgeline off-road race truck and THR-W Road Racing Endurance Type R, the latter set to race against the world’s fastest front-wheel-drive vehicles in stock form....
