Sweet, sticky and lightly dense liquid in golden yellow or brown colour. Rarely would you find anyone who is not familiar with the syrupy and high viscosity food, honey. Out of all natural foods on earth, honey has been known to be a prominent one. Made by bees with the nectars gotten from flowering plants, it has been said to be the only food produced without the destruction of any kind of life; they are produced and stored in the honeycombs of these social insects.
A jar of honey, definitely contains 80% of sugar, 18% of water and 2% of acid like the gluconic acid. Its nutritional values include calories, carbohydrates, proteins, potassium and iron. It goes by different names and this depends on whatever tribe, race or country you find yourself in.

Sweden - honug
France - miele
Germany - honing
Roman - miere
Italy - mile
Finnish - hunaja.

Uses of honey.
Of course it has a lot of nutritional benefits and vast range of help it could render to the life of mankind, and these would be made known.

1: A medication.
In the past and now, it has been specially and popularly known to heal wounds and sores quickly just by spreading it on the affected area. Not only that, honey is also used to get rid of allergies and cough too (when mixed with lemon juice).
It is a medicinal food with substances which helps to keep our body fit and maintain our immune system. Mixing it with other natural food like coconut oil, serve as anti-poison and helps to get rid of toxic or harmful substances in the body. Just so you know, honey is used

  • For coughs and throat infections.
  • For the proper functioning of cardiovascular system which includes the heart, lungs and the likes.
  • In aiding insomnia treatment.
  • It improves and helps to maintain mental health.
  • For skin infections.
  • For treating abdominal issues like stomach ulcers.
  • In weight loss.
  • For proper and good eyesight.

2: A cooking ingredient.
Right from baking, all the way to roasting, grilling and so on, you surely would use honey in one method or the other. In baking especially, it could be used as sweetener in stead of a sugar. It is also used as humectant, moistening your baked foods. Surely not just for baking, honey is used in glazing pretzels, pairing it with goat cheese, spreading it over your bread and so on. It could be eaten alone also, just not too much. Honey can also be added to your beverage like tea or coffee for those who would want to go for low sugar; this should be taken at night if you got a job and not in the morning as it curbs insomnia.
The food is commonly used in foods and beverage-making companies as moisturizer and sweetner for the products.

3: As skin preservatives.

Beauty divas and skin care gurus would definitely attest to the wonders of honey on the skin. Even though the skin exfoliates on its own every three months, nothing could go so wrong in aiding it with honey. Sugar can be replaced with honey in the removal of dead skin cells. It smoothen, freshens and softens the skin, balancing the skin bacteria all along.
A face mask to get a pretty face, with the use of honey is not a bad idea also as it helps to reduce acne.It has also been said to remove scars and reduce skin irritations. It helps to prevent and get rid of cancer too.
Honey is widely used in cosmetics producing factories, as one of the ingredients in making skin care products for the people.
