Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, has been embroiled in a legal battle with the US government since last year. The exchange is seeking a court order to lift a subpoena requiring it to disclose customer records, as well as information about its operations and business plans.
The case recently became tense when one of Binance's attorneys, Daniel Hochheiser, lost his jurisdiction in November and was replaced by another judge overseeing the case.
In transcripts of the April 8 hearings before U.S. District Judge Alison J. Nathan in New York, Hochheiser said he had no objections to the transfer of client records, but did not want to because he felt that it did. will violate the privacy of customers.
He also said that complying with the subpoena could have unintended consequences, such as damaging Binance's reputation and making it more difficult for customers who want to use fiat currency on exchanges. exchange if they do not wish to use the Binance platform for this purpose.
