The new testament reminds us that wealth is important; but the love, the excessive eagerness, to be rich is not. Wealth and wisdom need each other, because without the former, we cannot live well and without the latter we cannot make good decisions.
The point is then, what the mind is engaged in. The bible explains that when we make good decisions we prosper, the universe is governed by natural laws created by God, and some of these laws apply to the ethical behavior of man.
When in our excessive desire for wealth we violate God's laws by acting against our neighbor, it is when we act as foolish and mad, that is where the false notion of money security appears.
We are all subject to the Law of harvest and sowing: "Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life", Galatians 6:8.
The first letter to Timothy explains that the Providence of God is above all an order, a principle-based on laws, Providence is the same beatitude expounded in the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5:1-12 and Luke 6:20-26): "Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.", 1 Timothy 6:17.
The hope of which the apostle speaks is a hope based on the search for the true goods for man: the communion, the life in common and the fruits of the spirit, "But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law"; Galatians 5:21-23.
Riches in the present world must be a result, a consequence of sensible decisions, and not a goal by itself, Providence makes those who live wisely prosper.
