Horror Club: A Short Visit

She stood at my door soaking wet, the rain falling hard behind her. Perhaps 20 years old, but not any older. I didn't recognize her from the neighborhood and my mind started racing with who she might be and what might have happened to her to bring her to my doorstep. She said nothing as she stared at me with a confused look. I wasn't sure how she could be the one confused in this situation.

Being the good natured man that I am I motioned for her to come in. She stepped into my living room and just stood there. She clearly needed my help, but her behavior was peculiar.

I asked if she was ok, but there was no response. She had to have gone through some sort of trauma and needed help, but when I reached for my phone she gently put her hand on my wrist to stop me. Her hand was ice cold.

I guided her to the kitchen and motioned for her to sit down at the table while I made some tea. Peppermint to hopefully calm her nerves a bit.

I filled my favorite green mug with the tea and set it in front of her. She reacted immediately but slowly. It felt like a minute before the mug reached her lips and she began slowly sipping away at it. I poured myself a mug and sat across from her. She showed no emotions, but she was at least more active than when she first came in.

It took about half an hour for her to finish her tea. She took another ten minutes to stare at the empty cup before standing up and walking back to the living room. As I followed I watched as she lost all strength and crumpled to the floor. I ran to her to see if she was ok. It was then that I first noticed the deep cut on her neck. No blood, only a deep gash. She had no pulse. That was when I called the police.

When I told my story to the officer I was immediately arrested. He told me that the woman must have been dead for at least 24 hours, making my timeline impossible. I made nothing up. I can not explain what happened, but none of it is a fabrication.

I understand how unbelievable my story is, but I urge the court to see the truth in my words and understand that this is exactly how I recall that night. I don't know how it could have happened, but I am not at fault for this woman's death. As much as I would like to assist the police with information on how she died the whole situation is unfathomable to me. I have nothing to offer but what I experienced.
