I like to watch the horse videos and photos, and horse stories, which always lift my spirits. I was reminded of when my friend and I brought two registered Morgans, early 20's, mother and daughter, onto our little farm in Covelo because they needed homes because the widow could no longer care for them. They were actually the best trained horses I ever rode, trained cattle horses, very fun to ride.
One summer, really dry, and their faces were just covered with flies all the time, especially around their eyes. I put masks on them, first time apparently they had ever worn them. They had been together for nearly both lifetimes, but when they first looked at each other, they squealed and shrieked and reared up at each other, didn't even recognize each other. They eventually touched noses and calmed down. During that hot dry summer, they eventually looked forward to the masks during the day. Flies in the eyes suck.
Anyway, this photo reminded me!
