hot lava eruption before bursting into flames

This camera managed to capture a molten lava engulfing it before bursting into flames. Interestingly, the sd card and the footage was intact after the owner hammered the device out of the cooled off molten rockElectronic equipment like phones, cameras and laptops are often vulnerable to physical damage. While, some of them do have an insurance cover, others don’t. Hence, many of us tend to be over cautious while handling these and keep them as safe as possible. However, here is a story that will make you re-think about the sturdiness of these devices. The incident occurred when owner and lead guide of Kilauea EcoGuides Erik Storm, went on a tour and placed his GoPro away from the lava to capture the flow.

While narrating the story, the molten lava reached the camera and engulfed it. “I used a geology rock hammer to pull it out of the lava and thought it was a total loss,” told Storm to PetaPixel. However, once Storm got back home and hammered the cooled off rock from the camera, he realised that the WiFi light on the device was blinking. To his amusement even the footage before the camera burst into flames was intact. Check out the video here.
