All about my job

I want to tell you all about my job. I am a sales and service representative for a regional industrial machine company in the southeastern US. What that means is that I am responsible for sales of service on different machines as well as taking care of the current customers in regards to the maintenance of their equipment.
I have been in sales for over 20 years now, selling everything from financial services like investments to toner cartridges to forklifts. One thing I can say is that most people in sales get a bad rap. People tend to think that sales reps are greedy, lazy and just out for themselves. My experience is much different. I believe that the vast majority of sales reps are ethical, caring and really want what is best for their customer.
My day to day is generally the same, but there is always the challenge of working with people. I start my day by checking my emails. I return calls and then I set out to take with prospective customers. I visit at least ten prospects a day, usually leaving flyers for our service or a new piece of equipment that we are pushing. Once I get done I head back to my home office to make phone calls and check to make sure all our service requests are being fulfilled to our clients expectations. I finish my day by putting together quotes and work orders to send to new and prospective clients. Some days I am done by noon and some days I work well into the night.
My biggest challenge is dealing with the continual rejection, oddly enough most people don't want to take sales calls until they are ready. As sales people, we make our own destiny, but it isn't easy, anyone that tells you otherwise is lying.
My biggest hope for the future is that I will win the sales rep of the year award and get the respect of my peers. This is my time as a sales and service representative in the US.
