Creating With Clever Creator -- Make Your Own Bookshelves

in howto •  8 years ago  (edited)

Sometimes we forgo touching up our homes with the little things for various reasons -- tight budgets or lack of items that reflect who we are.

I have been wanting to build these bookshelves for a couple of years now. Being that I am finally Home -- Let's jump right in:

Supplies Needed

  • Strong glue (I chose Gorilla Glue)
  • As many books as you choose
  • For each one (1) book -- two (2) brackets
  • A method for securing the shelf to the wall (NOT glue)
  • Ruler
  • Pencil

Step 1

Face the book the way you wish it to appear on the wall. Then turn it over and mark two inches in, on both sides and draw your straight line.

Step 2

Secure your brackets to the book, with the strong glue. Be aware of which glues expand, such as Gorilla Glue and adjust accordingly. Allow them to set for at least 12 hours. A day or two is the preferred time, for proper glue setting.

Step 3

Do not attempt to take measurements, for screw holes, until the glue has set. You can, also, use the 3M sticky strips to fasten your bookshelves to the wall.

I recommend drywall anchors (for drywall) to prevent the shelf from falling out of the wall. Another little touch, you can paint your screws to match your brackets or buy the correct color screws.

Guess What?

You have beautiful new bookshelves on the wall. Enjoy!!!

My Current Give Back Programs

10% of the SBD earnings from this post are set aside to fund domestic abuse projects that are designed and maintained by @clevercreator – I am currently working towards building a long-term assistance program.

20% of the SBD from this post will be given back to the SteemIt Community through the amazing folks I find while doing my curation rounds.

As my earnings grow, these percentages will go up as well.

Every post that exceeds $100, and then multiples of 100 ($200, $300, $400, etc.), I will send out a book (used books that need good homes), WITH a handwritten note signed by yours truly, @clevercreator – But wait there are rules…

• Your comment must be the most voted

• Include in your comment what you would like to focus on in the letter (maybe something to encourage you or an idea that you need help with)

• For every multiple of $100 this post earns, that many folks can will be able to win…so if the post earns $311.13, then there will be 3 wonderful folks that will see this book and letter come to them

• You address must be deliverable by standard mail – I am sorry, at this time, I cannot afford a courier

• Yes, you can live outside the United States and win

• You must have an active SteemIt account at the time the post pays out

• Of course, the most important rule – have fun and get the discussion going

• If you will pay too much in taxes, outside the US, tell me, and I will send you a small e-gift card from Amazon

I look forward to see pics!!!

Love this idea for shelves. Books can be as thick as two by fours and I am sure these would hold a good amount of weight. Thanks for the share.

Much appreciation. I want to bring unique creates :) to our unique space.

Nicely done! This actually looks pretty cool. I was wondering if you were going to actually put them up, or were just going to give us the 'recipe' for it :)
