HOW TO MAKE A HOMESTEADER POST FOR STEEMIT - Featuring @Mericanhomestead & @Papa-pepper

in howto •  7 years ago  (edited)

The homesteading community on steemit is growing at an incredible rate right now.

Personally, I attribute a lot of this recent growth to @mericanhomestead recently joining our community and promoting steemit a lot on their YouTube channel. Yesterday, the @papa-pepper tribe was blessed with the opportunity to head over to their homestead and spend the afternoon with their family.

I love the fact that homesteaders are not only joining steemit, but interacting, meeting up, and building the community. @Allforthegood even recently made this super cool "Homesteaders Unite on Steemit" logo!

As a fun community building opportunity, @mericanhomestead and @papa-pepper even decided to make this educational, informational, and inspirational video on "How to Make a Homesteader Post for Steemit." Enjoy it!

HOW TO MAKE A HOMESTEADER POST FOR STEEMIT

A BIG THANKS to @mericanhomestead for shooting and making this video. We hope that you all enjoyed it! Also, if you are not already doing so, you may want to check out and follow @mericanhomestead for more excellent homesteading videos and advice! Also, a big thanks to @dylanhobalart for sending me the sign we used! Thanks!

As always, I'm @papa-pepper and here's the proof:

I hope that one day I can grow a real beard, but for now I grow what I can.

I did not know the term "homesteaders," but I approve of this philosophy of life. I grow my own vegetables, some fruits, and I have free spring water all year!

Glad to hear you like to grow your own and drink fresh, clean and wild!

Sounds like a homesteader to me!

I made a Preppers Steemit logo.
I would share it, but then I would have to kill you. Just part of OPSEC, nothing personal.

Kill me??? Man, @deanlogic, you're taking that survival game too seriously!

It's right there in the manual.

Real men homestead! Great post Papa. Look forward to all your content! You're the man!

Hooray! I'm a real man! Thanks!

Such a good time to be a part of this amazing community. Also I love the beards!

It is a very good time indeed. It seems that there is a trend on steemit where the best time to be on steemit is NOW!

I only wish we lived closer together. Thankfully Steemit is here to bridge the gap! So great to see you two on videos together. Zac lead us to Steemit about a month ago and we absolutely love it! Not just for the financial aspects, but because of the sense of community and the ability to mix different media into our posts and be as creative as possible!

It brings together a lot! Steemit is the only reason that we even met Zac and his family. Sure we saw them on YouTube, but steemit is different! Thanks!

Thanks for sharing papa thats a great post!!

I found @papa-pepper through @mericanhomestead, as well as learning about steemit from @bfhomestead. Thanks all!

The homesteaders are uniting!

I also found @papa-pepper through @mericanhomestead. And I'm thrilled. It looks like I now have another great source for homesteading and Steemit know-how. Thankyou to you both for your great info!

Very cool! Zac is getting me all sorts of followers now!

It certainly is!

amazing post

Thank you! LOL! I liked the post too!

I am so glad to be a part of the STEEMIT crew. We are bringing more and more self reliant folks over from YT every day!

You guys sure are. It is quite an amazing community anyway, but this is getting really good!

Just keep the content coming....Love it all!

I've got quite a backlog of content waiting to be published. With my payouts currently being what they are, I try to space my posts out and limit how frequently I post. Don't worry though, they'll keep coming.

you guys rock! thanks or the continuing high quality posts. sharing with my friends on facebook so they can see why í'm over here most of the timē änd why they should be as well 😉

Great idea! Thanks!

I love it. This would be great for my parents to see I'll have to forward it on to them!

Sure, let them check it out! Thank you!

Mr. Rain and I just watched this interview over at Zac's channel on youtube. It was very inspiring and encouraging to us. We jumped into steemit right at 3 weeks ago and are very surprised with how well we are doing in such a short time so between that and hearing what you had to say, we feel we may truly be able to fulfill our dreams to finally get that piece of property we are hunting for so we can expand, thanks to steemit! Thank you for your great content Papa-Pepper!

I wish you the best as you work towards that goal! Thank you too!

Oh. My goodness. You both are dorks and I love it! We should try and figure out which homesteaders are where and try to get more Steemie meetups happening!

YES! Totally! A Steemit Homesteaders Convention!

YEE HAW! Steadin down here in Texas Ya'll!

Glad to hear it. I'll be travelling to Texas before too long! Thanks!

Yeah! Gotta swing by DFW then and come see @gardenofeden, @saramiller, and @piercetheveil? Possible Interview in the works, we are all doing big down here and they are steemit allstars like yourself haha.....

ha ha, you actually made a POST -- like out of wood.

you guys are clever!

THANKS!!

Lol, yeah. Homesteaders do things differently sometimes.

The name @mericanhomestead is so funny to me I love it haha

You only get so many letters here on steemit, some names have to be shortened! LOL

:)

:0

Ah, this was great! Thanks for the introduction to Merican Homestead. I'll have to go check em' out over on the You Tube! Enjoyed! Good stuff. By the way this Hard fork is pretty wild. I up voted this and it jumped $5. That to me is NuTz.

The hardfork is pretty crazy! So far, it looks good. We will see.

Nice post or should I say posts! Keep living the dream brother!

LOL! Thank you @provider. I can't wait to put our beards together for a video!

Funny post! take a bigger axe and a real hammer next time : )

Have a nice day @papa-pepper

There is always room for improvement, we were just having fun! Thanks!

Now that's a nice post! very creative video....

Thank you! We really enjoyed making it!

Awesome. Cool pic with both of you in it. You guys are super stars on here. Keep up the good work!

Yeah, it was Steemstar meets Youtube king and we nailed it!

You posts are always refreshing, I'm terrible at homeasteading, but I like watching. Thanks for sharing! Hahaha.

Just keep watching then. We don't mind! Glad you enjoy it.

Great post!
Thanks for sharing and stead & steem on :)

STEAD ON! STEEM ON!

I like it. Thank you very much @jcsteem!

Great video ! To help build the community I've been making a list of Preppers & Homesteaders on steemit. Here's version 1 : https://steemit.com/homesteading/@pennsif/preppers-and-homesteaders-on-steemit-my-list-so-far
A much extended version 2 of the list will be coming to steemit later this evening. Hope it helps.

Great post... Realy enjoy it !

Wow! Really cool. Had a great time visiting with the Peppers! Hope to do more again soon.

You need to check out the comment from @marillaanne up near the top of the comment section. Someone actually understood us! Excellent!

hi, papa-pepper
I really like your post
Your post I always wait

This is awesome!
p.s. I got another picture of Papa-Pepe-the-Frog today and made you a poem!

too bad wranglerstar is not on SteemIt, he could show how to sharpen that hatchet.

Yeah, I'll be doing that soon. Noticed that too.

What an awesome post about posting a post by homesteaders on Steemit !!! Thanks guys !!!👍🏻

Lol, I agree!

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

Awesome video!!! Thanks @mericanhomestead for pointing me to @papa-pepper. Great stuff! Keep up the good work and for providing quality information!

Glad you liked it!

Nice fun video. Get a pair of loppers for those little limbs! They aren't so dramatic, but they are a lot quieter, faster, and make cleaner cut. ; ) It is nice to see the homesteading community growing here on Steemit, for sure!

Yeah, there's more than one way to skin a cat... Or so I hear...

I wouldn't recommend using loppers to skin a cat. The long handles would be awkward for using the little blade. Your hatchet would work a lot better for that! ; )

Thanks for all your help for us newbies..i found steemit and your page through American Homestead on youtube. Ive been a sub there for a while...Thanks again

Cool, thanks for checking me out!

Pretty impressive! It's very hard to find tough guys like you back where I grew up..wood splinters would have wreaked damage on their soft palms.

I don't do any homesteading of that sort, but I do make my own cleaning items, like dishwasher detergent powder, leather cleaner, laundry detergent, etc. Does that count?

Yes, it counts. My wife does the same. That's worth at least 2 points!

@papa-pepper Thanks as always for bringing a good type of enlightenment to the masses.

Thanks for encouraging us to!

I love the whole Double Entendre of this post.

There is a deeper meaning too, which at least one person understood, which was nice!

Take off eh! I had everyone thinking I was as shallow as a Michigan pothole and you went and blew it. Way to go hoser! Lol. (Note: this comment is alot funnier if you've heard of Bob and Doug McKenzie)

Very Nice! Upvoted and Resteem.

Cool, thanks for that! I appreciate it!

My relatives in the countryside are homesteaders as well. They do not value much things, just enough to live by day by day. Everytime I visit them they always give me fruits and vegetables when I leave. Make use of what you have, love the post. The axe didn't seem sharp but the saw sealed the deal.

Papa-pepper so good to see you meet up with Zac... i've been following him on you tube for almost 2 years now. I've always loved his content, and i am fast becoming a fan of your's as well. Thank both you and Zac for all that you do in helping others. the world definitely needs more people like you. again, thank you..

Very cool @papa-pepper, @mericanhomestead! So glad to see the steemit sign getting put to good use. Sure would like to come down and work the land with you guys. Thanks for sharing this inspirational video! And great film work. The surprises are never ending on steemit, who knows what's around the next corner!

Glad that you liked it and thanks again! Things are always pretty crazy here on steemit!

For sure,

Hey, just wanted to check is your mailing address the same?

Yes, same as last time.

You've always been a friend to the minnow and not for any monetary reasons. Glad we can finally pay you back with HF19 for all the love

Thank you @sireland. I try to get around, encourage, educate, and spread the love, but sometimes it is hard to feel like you are doing enough. Thanks for the encouragement.

Great read. Follow me for the latest tech headlines from my paid subscription to the Wall Street Journal.

Behind enemy lines here in NYC guys. Just want you to know I love & follow all your channels and my goal is to move my family to a more rural area and slowly take my life back and become closer with nature and living life to the fullest! Hoping Steemit will help me make that a reality.

Great job guys.

It's nice to see that the cooperation among the Steemit community extends beyond just the digital one.

@aggroed and @minnowsupport on Discord are doing their part to bring new members up to speed too.

Upvoted & Resteemed.

The Quality of this video is Through the roof hahaha
The whole time I watched, I thought there was gonna be
alot of cutting, building, and man stuff going on!:)

It was all for that Masterful, Homemade, One of a Kind Post
Beer Raised.......Drink to that:)

hahaha!! This was hilarious! Love it. Thank you guys for making me laugh as I am trying to learn "how to actually make a post here on Steemit". I am learning Steemit at midnight here in Texas...and I laughed so hard I woke up my kids! lol.

It was all in the video. I heard it best put this way.. or so about.

1 - Choose your subject (cedar)
2 - Remove excess (chop branches)
3 - Extract the best part of the subject (remove tree from woods)
4 - Make a point. (hatchet on end)
5 - Drive the point home. (Hit with rock)
6 - Select image for post (hang the sign)

Not sure if that helps.

This is awesome! Thank you papa-pepper!!!!! This is some great and deep teaching. I dig it! Thank you sir, I am loving Steemit!!

I am pleased to hear it. Also, since you are still a 25 reputation, I suppose you have not even done an introduceyourself post. When you do, please let me know so that I do not miss it.

I kind of want to see your reputation grow, so I'll give you an upvote on your comment, just to get a little STEEM heading towards your wallet and to get your rep heading the right direction.

Cool - over $17 and a bump up to 34! Good for you @bettertogether!

Thank you so much papa-pepper!!! I just posted my introduceyourself post. Maybe this is not how to do this, but here is a direct link as you requested: https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@bettertogether/steemit-is-better-together-hello-everyone

Thank you again! And can't wait to see more of those baby muscovy's of yours!! :)

Enjoy both of you guys. Wish I lived closer, you fellows seem like fun loving sorts. Thanks again to Zac for turning me on to Steemit and Papa Pepper. Real nice to find authentic people who love nature and natures creator. Bless you guys.

people who love nature and natures creator.

That's right! We sure do! I'm glad that @mericanhomestead pointed you my way! I hope that you will not be disappointed!

Count me in.

I think homesteading is the best way of life. No stress, living and feeding off the land, connected to nature, far from the noises and pollution of civilization.

It is what we enjoy. I'm not afraid of hard work, especially when I'm working for myself!

Master of your own destiny.

No stress? ! !

Of course no stress, you got the whole day to chop your wood and cook your meal. Plenty of time to relax in between, no? And if you got animals and plants, that's even better, you don't need to go hunting for food.

Lol!

Ditto.

Hey @papa-pepper how are the homestead animals going. We have been busy traveling and lost track of your animal project

I would like to make it very.... clear... that I did not come to steemit because of the american homestead and in NO way was he an influence on any of my decision processes .My eldest son lead me to the steemit opportunity, as he is in university and steemit is doing the rounds there. I have found you and your posts very interesting and I enjoy them. Unfortunately though I do not agree with you assessment of the aforementioned homesteader and quite frankly I was surprised and disappointed that you have decided to associate yourself with that individual. I am not judging you or him but I refuse to be tagged along with him. I truly thought you were far more enlightened than this. Though you will probably not even notice or even care, it is unlikely I will continue to view you posts. i wish you well in you endeavors . May you and your family stay well and safe.

Hmmm.... No idea what any of that is about, and you are certainly free to never view my posts again. We just happened to find some people who lived near us who have a similar lifestyle, so we stopped over to say hi and had some fun. I hope you and your family do well too. Be blessed.

So you have no idea about your own opening statement on this post. That is more of a Hmmm right there. Perhaps you have not watched the mans youtube videos so you're unaware of the true nature of him. I am a homesteader not a fear propagandist or opportunist. Many of us have been categorized as nut bars because of that man. So when a very popular person like yourself hooks their wagon to him, it is once again making things much harder for those of us that want a "normale" homesteading experience that much harder. Its not that I don't want to watch or in some kind of way punish you...im just not that petty but I was shocked to be quite honest with you, that this has happened. Many have and are disassociating themselves from him. Some very popular homesteader indeed out right reject him because of the damage the association does. As you see from my steemit name I will automatically be associated with him because of his prevalence and you just gave a great big boost to his credibility. So...now you now have an idea why I will make sure when ever this man is mentioned that there is written evidence of my disapproval and disassociation of him is known for and recorded.
I thank you for your blessing im sure it is genuine.
Take care mate I hope you understand what you have just hooked your self to.

My statement was that "a lot" of homesteaders joined steemit due to @mericanhomestead promoting it on YouTube. That is true.

We are considering going off grid, and they are, so went to get a first person view of what it looks like. Sorry if allowing him to interview me or making a post with him offends you. Such was not my intention.

lol offend...no i'm not a snowflake mate. :o) and I didn't say it wasn't true. If you would like to see real off grid I can put in contact with the aid organisation i'm affiliated with in Cambodia if you would like. Or maybe you might like to read a post i put up called The great homestead Lie

He is well aware of me by the way, here and on you tube. Im not scurrying around in the background running him down ...ok
He is the first on my list of things I can NOT let just slide. I am an aid worker and have been one for many years. This is a topic that needs attention and i will do all I can to rectify this potential disaster.

Bwahahaha I loved the video but I am thinking @papa-pepper needs to spend a bunch of time with Zac @mericanhomestead and get edumacated on working smarter not harder and adapting to the power of the tools! Psst you do know how to sharpen tools right? ;-)

Yup forgot to Resteemit!

😂😂😂 That's great! Lol!

Congratulations @papa-pepper
You took 37 place in my Top 100 of posts
