My Way of Baking Pan De Sal (Filipino Rolls) | The Reveal

Living in a different country apart from the Philippines is quite challenging when trying to live the way I did in my homeland. The only option I have is to learn the skills, modify and adapt to the current situation I may have.

I didn't learn to bake until I arrived in the United States. So I would refer to my family and friends to recipes that they have been using often. Tasting and just looking at the recipe makes a huge difference. So if I like the taste and the texture of the pastry or any type of food in reference to general manner of cooking, I will ask for the different approach they had for that dish that made it really special.

Thank you to the help of family and friends that shared their recipe and to the information that is available online. I also self taught through reading and watching videos online and apply my own techniques that later develop to my own skills.

The way we eat Pan de Sal is with coffee, hot cocoa, milk, or tea for breakfast or the way you randomly make your sandwich with eggs, bacon, ham, sausages, or cold cuts. At lunch or dinner time we pair it with sauced or soupy dishes. So it is also considered as a staple food for Filipinos aside from having rice at your dinner table all the time.
