Ukraine has faced unprecedented Russian aggression in a conflict described by the BBC as the biggest war in Europe since 1945.
In an attempt to follow its imperialist policy, Russia now deliberately violates legal standards, such as the Basic International Convention and the Geneva Conventions, which regulate military conflict and humanitarian behavior.
Ukraine's military service reports that more than 2,000 civilians were killed in the first week of the Russian offensive. Russia's military has attacked and destroyed residential buildings, hospitals, kindergartens and other civilian infrastructure, despite claims to be focused on military bases. The so-called green corridors that allow civilians to evacuate and provide the most affected areas with food, water and supplies are not functioning adequately, leading to humanitarian catastrophes in cities such as Mariupol and Volnovakha.
