Done!

There was enough soil in that chicken run to finish up our big #hugelkultur bed. Then we added five bags of leaves to the chicken run and started it all over!

Koekoek still loves me too. What a good day!

I'll need to order a whole bunch of clover seed to cover the soil on this bed and fix some hardcore nitrogen in there with all that wood. Soil fertility, here we come!

Over the seasons, this new raised bed will probably get added to until it's all broken down and big enough to knock over and spread around the awesome soil. Til then, it'll attract #worms and #fungi into that soil, which will build it up and help it grow. It will need minimal watering because the wood will absorb water and release it as needed to the plants. Fungi will distribute nutrients around the area, as well as produce water. They'll sequester carbon in the soil as well, helping to reduce green house gasses. Wanna make a difference in climate change? Go bury some sticks instead of begging someone to pass a law. #dosomething.

#permaculture makes a difference. More food. Better #food. Better #environment. Better earth.

Be blessed.
Be fruitful.
Stay relevant.

Nate.

Cool those birdies made you so much compost. :))

It's more than I could have made! So fluffy too, it's the greatest! Can't wait to plant into it. We've got rain coming the next few days to help settle it all and soak those branches underneath. I'm really excited for spring!!!
