Wisdom against idolatry: He thinks of human life as just a game, a market where he can make a profit. Wisdom 15:12

The sapiential books in the Bible constantly teach the importance of seeking the wisdom of the Lord above all things, even above riches and power, because as Jesus also taught in the gospels, without wisdom men build on mud, and with these wise words the Book of Proverbs explains this spiritual truth: "How much better to get wisdom than gold, to get insight rather than silver" Proverbs 16:16.
Without the wisdom that the Lord gives, men fall into idolatry and heresy, that is, the teaching of error. The wisdom as science is the knowledge of the correct means to live, and as a spiritual gift is the love for the virtue; wisdom participates in both science and intelligence, because men say that wisdom comes from the wise.
And the Book of Wisdom teaches with determination that wisdom is opposed to idolatry: "The invention of idols marked the origin of immorality; their discovery corrupted human life" Wisdom 14:12. As the Bible demonstrated through many characters, evil in its greatest degree is intrinsically related to this insidious sin, and an example of this was Jezebel, the Phoenician princess who married Ahab, king of Israel, and who, because of her devotion to Baal, committed all kinds of perversions with the devotees of the God of Israel, even the prophet Elijah saw his life in danger during those violent times.
And the Book of Wisdom also says something very interesting about those who make idolatry a way of life, the minds of idolaters are darkened by passions and unbridled selfishness, something that the apostle Paul also perceived during his missionary journeys when he wrote his letters to the Churches of Greece, and with these words the Bible describes what the thinking of the pagans is like: "He thinks of human life as just a game, a market where he can make a profit. He believes that he must make money however he can, even by evil ways. This man, who makes idols and fragile pots from the same clay, knows better than anyone else that he is sinning" Wisdom 15:12-14. The sacred scriptures invite men to reflect about the true knowledge of life.
