The more we know about our bodies, the better we can take care of them. Researchers are constantly making discoveries that help improve the quality of life. Bacteria exist in all our bodies. While it brings to mind negative thoughts, bacteria can also be helpful. Discover more about the bacteria in our bodies and the human microbiome.

Good and Bad in Everyone

Good bacteria are symbiotic and bad bacteria are pathogenic. The human microbiome is made up of all the good and bad bacteria that coexist in human cells. Researchers are finding out more about the nature of these bacteria as well as the variety and number.

Much Bacteria in Our Bodies

Because bacteria is small, its total weight in the average human body is a few pounds. But the number is astounding. Our bodies have about 10 trillion human cells. And there are over 100 trillion bacteria in our bodies.

Through the savvy use of robotics and software, researchers are finding out more about the human microbiome. This research is focused on metabolic disorders, gastrointestinal disorders, oncology, immunology, infectious diseases, and more.
