Bible wisdom: Accept whatever happens to you; in periods of humiliation be patient. Ben Sira 2:4

Many teachings of the sapiential books such as those written in the Book of Ben Sira are evocations of stories from other books of the Bible. And Ben Sira, as a wise man, did not forget the events that happened to David when he was persecuted by Saul, or when Absalom wanted to usurp his throne, nor did he forget what happened to Job when, tested by God, he lost all his property and his family. These stories in the Bible leave men with important principles of wisdom to live by.
In the world there is a struggle between good and evil, and this makes life nothing easy, just as there are times of oppression and sadness, there are also times of freedom and happiness; in general terms, what happened to Job and David can happen to any common man.
And first of all, that is why those who want to serve God with reverential fear must understand a spiritual truth, knowing how to be meek in moments of tension is key to achieving success:
"My child, when you come to serve the Lord,
prepare yourself for trials.
Be sincere of heart and steadfast,
and do not be impetuous in time of adversity.
Cling to him, do not leave him,
that you may prosper in your last days" Ben Sira 2:1-3.
And then the master of wisdom Ben Sira taught about the spiritual gift of equanimity, that spiritual balance to avoid excessive euphoria in success and depression in defeat, to accept both the good and the bad when it comes, David and Job were great examples of this gift, and through this perfection of God they knew how to overcome their difficulties:
"Accept whatever happens to you;
in periods of humiliation be patient.
For in fire gold is tested,
and the chosen, in the crucible of humiliation.
Trust in God, and he will help you;
make your ways straight and hope in him" Ben Sira 2:4-6.
The wisdom of the Bible teaches man to follow the greatest and best examples, because it is in this way that God tests men; the wisdom from above is the great savior of men and those who gladly accept its teachings are blessed.
