In the early morning hours of December 25th, 2016, Calgary was hit by an unprecedented loss of "life". Police later stated it was a winter lawn party that went bad. The music was playing, the booze was flowing and everyone was having a wonderful time, until some drunken fool tripped over a power cord and ripped it out of the socket and it was judged to be irreparable "by most of the guys". The lights went out, the music stopped and in the shadows women screamed as something moved beside them. Within half an hour heaps of deflated plastic were all that was left.

"When we arrived on scene we immediately thought it was a mass murder. It was quite horrific. For some reason, in the dark we saw bodies laying everywhere, and although we quickly accessed the true nature, well, let's just say, in my 25 years as a policeman, that scene will always haunt me."

Police Services issued a statement that all victims will be receiving counselling with lots of soft pillows and fluffy, cuddly plush toys for added comfort and security.

I too, have no words for the loss.
