Someone sh*t-posted in the toilet block

If you follow my blog you’ll know I like to put some effort into my work: I research if I have to and tell stories from my life, past and present with supporting photographs and, hopefully, write interesting text. This post is none of that. It could, in fact, be called a shit post. Literally.

There is a building next to my office with, as usual, mens and ladies toilet blocks. They are clean and quite well maintained which is great. About a month ago the sign in the image went up, stuck to the hand drier machine. It has bothered me for a little while, hence this post. While I don’t disagree with the intent, the choice of wording disturbs me. Depending on how a person perceives it the sign could have different meanings. Sure, the message is implied, but still...Come on toilet guy, be clear!

"Toilet brushes are provided. Please use and keep clean for the next person."

Now, logically they mean to use the brushes on the toilet bowls. I assume so anyway. However what if someone took it more literally and used the brush on themselves with the intent of "keeping personally clean" for the next person they came across in their day? An interesting play on words. I have seen the brushes too and I reckon they'd be scratchy. I pity the person who reads the sign incorrectly. Another curious fact is that the sign is not in any of the toilet cubicles. It's on the wall next to the dryer which one uses after washing their hands. Curious.

I guess the moral of the story is to make sure you word your text correctly using punctuation and read it back to ensure it says exactly what you want it to say. This goes for steemit posts, emails, text messages and any form of the written word...Including toilet signage.

Design and create your ideal life, don't live it by default - or use scratchy toilet brushes on places they don't belong
