Antelope Hunting2018

Headed out after work in late August to head to the ranch which my hunt is on. Excited, yet calm. I’ve been out hunting before, just never Antelope. Cousin, his dad and I joking and talking about experiences out hunting. Great laughs and cry’s about misses of any shots we took. Getting mid way to Raton NM, from Las Cruces NM.
Neither of us are tired just thrilled to going. Watching the scenery pass by and dusk is coming. Finally get to closer to where we are going. Las Vegas NM, not to bad of a place, night has arrived pull into a gas station grab snacks and fill up for the rest of the drive. As we hit road for the last stretch of an hour drive. Getting quite in the cab, still talking but more dreaming about the next daybreak of the next day. Simply put, it’s like heading to Disney world or Land for those that never hunted. It’s just a rush to even be there, can stop the world but it does stop when you are out there. Finally find our way into Raton, get hotel to check-in and unload. It’s a nice place to stay specially if you like the view. A small town Raton is, no Walmart or big name stores, getting our gear ready for the A.M. drive out to the Ranch.. wow, couldn’t sleep a wink that night, but finally alseep at midnight. Two and a half hours later, we all start to get up and get dressed and geared up. Headed to get coffee as not seeing any other hunters, thinking we got out at a great time. Out on the ranch after a quick fourth five minute drive, still not any sight of other hunters. Waiting for dawn so we can slowly roll out and see where are. A huge three hundred acre ranch, cows and antelope running around. Mountain called Cow Mountain, haha.
