Things You Need To Know Before Getting A Husky, Contributed by @Shenanigator

Siberian Huskies are adorable, especially as puppies. There's no denying this fact.

You're perusing the pet store and you come across the cutest playful husky puppy with bright blue eyes and you immediately fall in love with this fluff ball. You think to yourself "This is the cutest thing I've ever seen, I need to have her in my life!"

Hold your horses. There's more to owning a husky than playing with this cute fluff ball.

A tired husky is a well-behaved husky

If you don't give your new husky puppy an hour of exercise every single day of its life for the next two years, she's going to ruin everything you own. That might sound easy. "1 hour? No big deal!" Just remember, you cannot miss a single day or you'll come home to find your favorite pair of shoes chewed up, or you'll walk into the living room and find that your loveable fluff ball has chewed through your television power cord.

Every. Single. Day. you'll come to find something else has been ruined. She'll never destroy both shoes from a pair, though. She'll only ruin a single shoe out of the pair and then move onto the next pair.

She'll poop in your favorite pair of shoes and you won't notice until you put them on when you're running late for work one day. After you drench your feet in bleach, get new socks on, and put on new shoes, you'll find her hiding behind the couch with your favorite hat in her mouth. This is, of course, the hat you were going to wear on your way to work to keep the morning sun out of your eyes.

Your new puppy will ensure you never get your rental deposit back for the next five years. She'll scratch the shit out of your bathroom door, she'll dig a hole in your brand new carpet, and she'll chew on every wooden piece of furniture you own.

The never-ending fur

It doesn't matter how much you clean, nor how much you vacuum, you'll have dog hair all over the place, all the time. You'll be finding dog hair around your house for the rest of your life, long after your pup has passed on.

You'll spend twenty minutes brushing her on Monday, only to find yourself having to do it again on Tuesday. She'll hate being brushed and she'll make your life miserable as you attempt to de-fur the husker.

You won't believe how much fur will come off of her. Every day you have a brushing sesh, there will be enough fur to make a whole other dog!

She'll be stubborn as a mother

Your new pup will never do a darn thing that she doesn't want to do. She'll expect to be treated like a princess and will never do a single trick for you unless she wants to do the trick. Did you let her outside in the yard? She won't come in until she wants to. Are you taking her for a walk? She won't stop smelling the bush until she wants to.

No matter how large or small your bed, she'll find a way to take up the entire thing. It will seem like an impossible feat for such a small creature to perform, but she'll figure out a way to make it happen. Night after night. Your sleep will never be the same again.

You'll hate your dog and love your dog, all at the same time, every day of your life.

If you can live with these quirks and this devilish behavior, your new pup will provide you with a bottomless supply of unconditional love, and she'll be sure to make the jaws of any passerby drop to the floor with her out-of-control cuteness.

I love how you describe this sled dog and how it is domesticated! I grew up running sled with a pack of huskies with a neighbor- the dogs were always outside so the fur never was a problem for us. But they have amazing personalities- different each one. My favorite was Nicky - he was the cuddliest. We just got a Finnish Lapphund which I am blogging about. Love her cute wiggly self to bits. I recommend that breed aswell if you love long fur and cuddles.

I wanted a husky, because I think they look like wolves, and I've always wanted a wolf.

But my husband said "no", because a husky needs a lot of exercise. And we don't even have a garden.

So we got a Shikoku instead. It looks like a wolf, it's slightly smaller than a husky, stubborn, clever, and full of energy, but also mostly calm indoors. I'm so glad I made that choice.

Here she is back when I had coffee with cream, and she also wanted her morning coffee.

Oh my god - how adorable!!! Thank you for sharing - the unconditional love and just the sight of the beautiful dog makes up for the fur, stubbornness and bursts of energy. Just beautiful!!! X

Strong dog... :D

It is a myth that dogs are color blind. They can actually see in color, just not as vividly as humans. It is akin to our vision at dusk.

You'll hate your dog and love your dog, all at the same time, every day of your life.
