A stretch of more than 600 km of Highway 11 was closed in both directions on Monday night due to poor weather conditions.
Just before 9 pm, the closure extended from Cochrane to Nipigon.
The Ontario Provincial Police could not estimate when the road would be reopened.
The region had received snow and freezing rain.
Barricades have been installed to block traffic.
