The power of AWARENESS: What thirty years of hypnotic trance reveals

I am constantly amazed by the power of word choices. Words are more than an arrangement of alphabet; consonants and vowels.

They are our thoughts, our beliefs, our memories and fantasies, and so much more.

They can alter our brain chemistry, and change our moods in a split second! They are the conscious thoughts, we hear and are aware.

They are also our habit thinking, our subconscious thoughts that play as background noise in our mind. They are the thoughts that sabotage use or help us to excel! When they are good they are great; and when they're not, they hinder us at becoming our best!

Greater than 95% of what we think, feel, and do is subconscious (I.e., habit). Much of it is programming we have acquired along the way. Do you ever wonder where your beliefs come from?

What do you think, and what do you merely parrot?

In my early days of learning the art of hypnosis, I thought it was a tool to tap into the subconscious mind.

However, as I applied the craft, and thought about it. I realize that since much of what we think , feel, and do is subconscious, we are basically walking around in a trance!

I then realized that hypnosis is a useful tool to tap into the conscious mind, and get clarity from the habitual stream of our habit thinking!

Both minds are important, however, we can use our conscious mind to make improvements! We can use it to explore, to question, and to add choices for thinking, feeling, and doing!

So how is this done?

  1. Awareness: Identifying thoughts or emotions that accompany pain.

  2. Awareness: There are other points of view, and options of behavior and behaving.

  3. Awareness: Taking personal responsibility for what we think, and do.

  4. Awareness: Deciding we want to improve, alter, and free ourselves from the confines of few choices, and outgrown beliefs, behaviors, and points of view!

  5. Awareness: consciously becoming the change (hopefully this change is an improvement) with perseverance and practice!

I agree with this good, informative post.

Thank you, I hope it is useful.

Nice article...over the years my preference has moved towards looking at hypnosis as more de-hypnosis, that is identifying and stepping out of the trances we are already inside of.
