One of the things I encounter all the time when I discuss hypnosis with people is the objection "I don't want to lose control."
I think people honestly expect that there is some magical ability that hypnotists have to take over your mind and make you do whatever they wish.
(Killgrave anyone?)
Hypnosis is not mind control. However there are times that a hypnotist can indeed frame something in such a way that may influence a person to do something they normally wouldn't.
Much if what we do depends on the context that we find ourselves in. And one of the great things about hypnosis is that it encourages you to fire up your imagination and to imagine yourself in a different context. And it can do this so convincingly that your subconscious mind may have a hard time being sure what is going on.
Just some food for thought.
Here is a great little video by the master of Hypnosis Without Trance, James Tripp, and he expands on this topic a little further.
I'll warn you though if you are new to the concepts in hypnosis this may be a little heady.
See you on the block!
