There must be a million start ups today, and they all have a different story and journey.
A few years ago two of my colleagues started a rugby based online platform, which was grown into a global platform. Or is busy being grown into a global platform. And looking back it brings a smile to my face to see how things happened for us.
Initially the two with the original idea needed a marketing guy - I worked with some Olympian swimmers before and although I at a glance I am one of the most unlikely people to work in the sports industry - never mind with Olympians, I was brought on board middle of 2017.
Then I found a multiple Olympic gold medalist to join us as an ambassador and wingman in marketing. We are working from home - in a beautiful garden under a thatched "lapa" as we call it in South Africa. We found a genuis developer - and suddenly a dream of leveling the playing field in the global sports industry morphed into reality. A basic website (and a hell of a row about the colours) grew into a thing of pride which we could show off.
I approached a global law firm who gave us 4 Directors and partners to look into our proposal - we are happy to say that we are still in the process of formalising our relationship with them in terms of what gets done for how much - but wow....4 guys and a girl working from home suddenly sit in boardrooms of international lawyers.
I managed to secure an international news interview for a speaker we flew out from Europe to address an event we hosted.
I can go on and on - but the message here is, if you have a brilliant idea, and if you find a stellar team and you are willing to work past minor fights and squabbles - you too could be in final count down to raising a few million dollars to make a dream come true.
Dream big. Dare. Believe in yourself and your product and jusy sit down and do it. If we could, you can. Trust me.
Good luck. Make your dreams come true. image credit: Google

@christiansmit never give up on your dreams. I have learnt this from the most successful people in the world 1) dream big 2)persevere.
The story of the gold miner that for years tried to get gold out of a mine just to give up centimeters from the mother load. Just for the next guy to swing his axe once and there it is ...

I am in a VERY tenacious space of single minded focus. Which is the space where I am performing at showroom level.
