Horizon - Telecom Blockchained

We all tend to vacation a bit, whenever possible. It allows for us to get some time off for ourselves and our family, rewinding and thinking. Some nowadays go on vacation just to escape the urban environment and all the things that come along with it such as constant calls and messages. Many go to remote places not accessible easily and they are usually devoid of communication with the outside world.

But, you get that isolation nowadays even if you venture a few miles away from the cities or towns. You don't need to spend so much cash and time in planning a vacation to a place which offers cellular isolation. All you have to do is to just go a few feet behind a concrete walls and see your reception basically go down that it is no longer viable to make or receive calls.

It has always been the case, ever since cellular was conceived. Don't even think of broadband. It requires for you to dig up almost everywhere around your living in order to route a cable for a connection and that too can get a lot a disturbances due to public works, physical damage, mediocre bandwidth and the very high rates that the ISPs ask, so no wonder most of them are opting out of broadband and opting for cellular modem.

Just the previous week, I had the chance to go on a road trip with my friends and planned on visiting a resort on the outskirts of the city that we resided in. About thirty minutes into the journey, we all lost our cellular coverage and as you know, a group of friends in a car having no Internet is no fun at all. Just kidding, but the usual "Stories" and "Posts" that used to go up were missing and we all had much more engaging conversations without the constant disturbance of something going off for every single thing that your friends did online.

And all the things mentioned above are applicable in the case of a city which also is an international hub of sorts. Don't even think of some of the developing countries and many islands. The island state and nations tend go neglected or unnoticed, until there occurs a natural calamity nearby or they invent something. The former tends to happen a lot though. But many of the islands tend to be the top tourist spots of a country and they are the ones that usually don't have broadband let alone cellular infrastructure and even if they had broadband, it the price rate are really high as the lines that they run over would be decades old and choppy. In the times of a calamity, they are totally cut off from the outside world.

Horizon Platform

In order to solve the problems mentioned above, the Horizon team plans to launch their own ISP Company which is based on the Blockchain platform. This would see to it that it remains decentralized and they plan to get Cellular connectivity to the Caribbean Islands first as they are one of the top tourist destinations and the founders are based there. They also plan to roll out internationally, letting this act as their test run. They plan on bringing Internet to the Islands via the combination of various technologies like LTE and Satellite Internet. They also plan on bringing TV and VoIP services in the near future according to their roadmap.

ICO & Team

Their Pre-Sale ICO is currently in progress and will be active till 8 August. They plan on holding their Main-Sale ICO right after their Pre-Sale ends and it requires for you to be registered, whitelisted and KYC Verified in order to participate in the ICO. They plan on powering their platform by introducing an Ethereum ERC-20 Token based Horizon Token (HRZN) which will be used by users for payment for the services that they use.

They have a well-diversified team with the founder having a lot of experience in the Telecom and Information Technology fields. The project is supported by experienced people from the retail, management, networking and marketing fields. They are backed by a six member advisory board consisting of Blockchain, Business, Financial and Strategic experts.

Conclusion

This project has its fair shares of advantages and also raises a few flags here and there. It has got a great idea, unique vision and a team that seem to deliver their promise. They have also got the backing of two of the members of The Bitcoin Podcast show.

But they have postponed their Pre-Sale due to some issues and that leads to their authenticity at a certain level. They are also focused on the Caribbean for now and we still don't know when they'll expand to other places. Nonetheless, only time will tell. Until then they have got the world's money at their hands for becoming the new age ISP.

They are bringing about a new way of providing Internet cheaply to places where currently not available or overpriced. They have got a huge market in the developing countries.

It sounds revolutionary, as with anything associated with blockchain

They've got the First-Mover advantage!
