Science and research-
Since the evolution of mankind, science has been an integral part of the life of human beings. It has led to numerous discoveries and inventions and breakthroughs which have simplified human life. From the earliest discoveries like the discovery of fire to the recent inventions like the internet, all come under the umbrella of scientific research. Research is the act of investigating existing scenarios in order to establish new facts and conclusions. Human beings, having the most complex of all the brains, are always up for some kind of research or the other. Such is the condition that people spend days to months to years on researching, without giving up, seeing numerous failures, yet working towards what they have got stuck on, and thereby contributing towards the betterment of human life.
With the passage of time, research has become an industry where there is competition to provide a research paper which is better than the rest. In education, good research papers are considered as milestones in one's career. The more the research papers one publishes, the more qualified one becomes. Thus, publication houses of scientific journals and research papers are on a full swing to house various research papers and gain profits.
Centralized publications-
With the commercialisation of research, pure scientific research has taken a step backward. Researchers are paid a minimal fee from the government in order to carry out their research, and after its completion, they have to give it to publication house where scientists review the work. The research paper is then queued for publication. This process takes a long time, and there is also a chance that the publication house rejects the research paper after holding it up for 10-12 months. The researcher has to send his research to another publication house having different requirements, leading to another long process of peer reviewing and editing and queuing for publication. After the successful publication of a paper, the researcher gets no recognition as the publishing house publishes the paper under its name. It goes ahead and sells its journals to government aided institutes and libraries at expensive rates where the researcher himself reads his work. This leads to lack of motivation to do further research. Reviewers also get no recognition for their work, and suffer due to low wages.
Because of the greed of degrees, few researchers submit poor quality articles in order to go up the education ladder quickly. Such papers are sold by publication houses along with good quality papers as a bundle, so that the libraries buying them would have to purchase both good and bad quality articles together. Libraries thus incur losses and poorly researched articles take up space.
About Orvium-
Orvium is a platform trying to disrupt this centralized market with the help of blockchain, smart contracts, decentralized storage space, cloud computing and big data analytics. It provides an open source platform where authors and their research papers are the central authority instead of the journals. Hence authors gain the adequate recognition they desire, after doing the research. Research papers can be published in it draft stages also, and owing to blockchain, it becomes available for reviews, comments and edit suggestions to the entire community so that the scientific community doesn't get only the results of the study, but the study itself, in raw form. This leads to more involvement and better results, along with rewards to major reviewers, like their name being added to the research paper or reviewers receiving ORV tokens, a crypto currency meant for the Orvium ecosystem. Collaborative research also has a lot of scope on such a platform. This platform gives copyright and licensing power to the authors so that they're in full control of their work, and its profits. It also accommodates grey literature, something that no journal provides.
Conclusion-
Thus, Orvium is an initiative trying to keep science and the scientific community progressing with quality research, so as to help humankind grow. With its fast, secure interface that provides every detail of any transaction made, and verifying every user to avoid spams and hackers, it provides an ecosystem warm and safe for all the budding researchers.

Goals etc. look great, but Ethereum blockchain based token... means I have lost all of my interest. It's good as a funding tool, but is very slow at times and expensive - it's not a tech for a working solution.
